Sustainability is part of our core identity as a family-owned company now in its fifth generation. With innovative coating systems, we enhance the performance of buildings and make our contribution so that people can live and work in healthier, more efficient, better-designed, and more sustainable buildings. For 130 years, sustainability has been an integral part of what we do as a company – both in terms of our impact on people and on the planet.
From using renewable raw materials in our products to protecting applicators’ health through preservative- and solvent-free paints and coatings – for us, sustainability is a holistic concept that we are continuously developing. In doing so, we focus on five key topics:
Climate Protection
Climate change is one of the greatest global challenges of our time and requires collective action. We take our responsibility seriously: our focus is on driving the reduction of our CO₂ emissions and offering our customers solutions that directly help to reduce the carbon footprint of buildings.
Resources
Natural resources are precious, and humanity consumes more than the Earth can regenerate. Our products protect buildings and thus support their longevity. However, manufacturing and marketing them do consume resources — both directly in operations and throughout the supply chain. Our approach is to use resources as efficiently as possible, reduce waste, and move step by step towards a circular economy.
Employees
People are at the center of DAW – we strive to be a fair and reliable partner for our employees. It is particularly important to us to create a safe working environment that protects their health and enables personal development regardless of gender, nationality, age, or length of service.
Customers and Users
Many people interact with our product solutions—whether painters, DIY customers or building users. Protecting their health has always been and remains our main concern: one example among many innovations is Indeko-plus E.L.F., the first wall paint free from emissions and solvents. Health will continue to be a central focus of our product development in the future.
For more than 10 years, we have been a signatory of the UN Global Compact. We are committed to its ten principles and to acting responsibly towards people and the environment. In addition, we regularly report on our progress.
