Game-Changer for Color Consulting
Ober-Ramstadt, September 1, 2026 – At last, a system that makes color design easier, more reliable, and faster, while placing the diversity of color and its individual and emotional character center stage. With its new modular Design Toolkit, Caparol is setting a new benchmark for professional color design, combining fan decks, design cards, mood accordions, and links to digital project visualizations. All components are precisely coordinated and work together to create a practical, streamlined workflow. Each tool can, of course, support the design process on its own. However, it is the combination of all modules that provides professional contractors, interior designers, and architects with a comprehensive and highly effective solution.
Simple, Fast, Reliable
At the heart of the Design Toolkit are two new color fan decks for interior and exterior applications, each featuring 222 carefully selected colors, large color fields, and an intuitive color sequence.
The color selections are based on Caparol’s extensive proprietary 3D Color System and draw, among other sources, on current international tinting statistics, providing a strong foundation for maximum day-to-day usability, as well as the decades of expertise of the Caparol Color Design Studio. Technical considerations were also integrated into the development process. In the 3D Exterior collection, for example, all colors meet A1 quality requirements in accordance with German BFS guidelines and technical specifications. Featuring the most relevant colors for professional applications, the new fan decks are ideal companions for architectural color design.
Modular, Well Designed, and Practical
The fan decks are complemented by two Design Guide Boxes (Interior and Exterior), each containing 50 Design Cards. On the front, every card presents a professionally coordinated three-color harmony. On the reverse, users will find an inspiring architectural example featuring the same colors, a distinctive name such as “Lake View,” and a QR code linking directly to Spectrum, Caparol’s design software. There, each color harmony is digitally visualized and can be adapted to individual projects. To simplify navigation within the extensive range of harmonies, the toolkit also includes Mood Guides, which offer quick comparisons of different color atmospheres and streamline the consulting process.
Five Steps to the Perfect Design Concept
Consulting with the Design Toolkit follows a simple process:
- Select a Mood: Use the Mood Cards to define the desired atmosphere, whether calm and minimalist, warm and classic, or bold and expressive.
- Define the Color Direction: Narrow the focus within the chosen mood to a specific color family or tonal range.
- Choose a Harmony: Select the most suitable color combination using the Design Cards.
- Reality Check: Review the visualization shown on the Design Cards and compare it with the actual project.
- Confirm the Colors: Finalize the exact shades using the color fan deck or large-format color samples.
Greater Confidence in Everyday Business
For professional painters and contractors, the Design Toolkit delivers significant practical value. Its systematic approach ensures that color decisions are not left to chance.
The toolkit incorporates the 50 years of expertise of the Caparol Color Design Studio, including its eye for detail and its ability to create distinctive, contemporary color solutions. Technical aspects such as color stability have also been taken into account.
This structured process accelerates consulting sessions, makes decisions easier to understand, and delivers more consistent color concepts, whether for new construction projects, renovation work, or interior applications.
The toolkit is also designed for ongoing updates. Caparol’s annual color trend studies can be seamlessly integrated through new Design Cards and trend accordions, ensuring that the boxes remain current and relevant year after year.
Coming Soon
The new 3D Interior and 3D Exterior A1 fan decks are already available. During the summer of 2026, the Design Guide Boxes with 50 Design Cards each will be launched. The Color Boxes, containing 222 A5-format color sample cards, are scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2026.
To support the rollout, Caparol will also offer workshops, enabling contractors and designers to fully leverage the potential of the Design Toolkit, a true game-changer for everyday creative work.
